Higher Education Scholarship

To support the educational and career develop-ment of women, the Beaufort Branch of the AAUW provides a yearly scholarship to a mature woman, age 21 or older, who is enrolled in a degree pro-gram at an institution of higher education in Beau-fort County. The scholarship is applicable to tuition and fees. AAUW pays the award directly to the col-lege, university, vocational, or technical school. Funds for the scholarship are raised through vari-ous fundraising events conducted by the branch.

The annual scholarship of the American Association of University Women, Beaufort Branch was presented on May 22, 2018 at the group’s culminating meeting for the 2017-2018 year. This year’s recipient, Tikeshia Davis, is a student at the Technical College of the Lowcountry. The high academic achievement and her career path as a student and working mother, helped Ms. Davis meet the high standards for the Etta Mann Non-traditional Women’s Scholarship. Named to memorialize long-time member Etta Mann, the scholarship is designed to help a local student realize her goal of furthering her education and gaining a degree in her chosen field.

The application process requires the applicant to review the eligibility requirements, print a copy of the application, include the required enclosures, and mail a completed and signed application by the postmarked deadline of April 15 for each year.
